It feels like you and I have been fighting on and off and our marriage never went that well, then one day you showed up with a bouquet of flowers and remembered me why I married you.

A bit of padding in-between users chatting would make it perfect. Discord-style, so to speak.

Next up: usernames right next to the first message of the chat. If it feels like I'm copying Discord, that's because I am. UX Design is all about making people interact with interfaces naturally, and the fact that almost everybody uses Discord makes it so that that's the interface they feel most comfortable with, and Xero Chat should reflect that for the best user experience
