When discussing “style” in the context of S4, it is important to clarify which era is being referenced? whether the 2008 Alaplaya era, the Aeria Games period? Even Valofe now? The game has been passed around so many times and the game’s visual direction has shifted significantly over time, the original 2008 art style is immensely different from later iterations. This raises the question: why would players desire content that looks like it was made in 2008, when the artistic standards and possibilities have evolved so much since then? And saying that most of it is recolours when it is blatantly not true? We have released back to back new content that does not involve anything from the past?

Rather than anchoring new creations to an outdated aesthetic, it makes more sense to innovate while still preserving the recognizable essence of S4’s style. After all, Xero’s whole purpose is to improve the game, not confine it to the limitations of its earliest years. Even some special types of effects on costumes, something that adds depth and modern appeal, were only made possible by the Xero developers, as the vanilla S4 never allowed for such features.
