depends on what age, he's changed in every part of the book.. first book when he arrived on the Night Watch he was 14-15 yo with a lot of ambition and recklessness, but then situations forced him to grow up
Are the books still going ? I was always wondering how did things turn up on them after the disappointing end of the show
Well, yes, this is one example where the series came out before the books, hahaha, but the author of the book supervised them c: It's certainly a funny sight!
But the characters are more vividly revealed in the book than in the tv. For example, my favorite character is Tyrion Lannister. In the show, they doen't point out his gud sides, like how: he's very honest, loving his family despite how cruelly he was treated by his father and siste by of his looking. He's very honest, and when he was Hand of the King to his nephew Joffrey, he gave a lot of money to the city to build farms, jobs, fishing grounds so that ppl had enough food, and so on. When everyone hated him cuz of his looking. Or Lysa Aaron, the sis of Lady Kathleen (Eddard Stark's wife). In the tvshow, she's a bit of a mess, but in the book, she's a pretty reasonable woman. A lot of scenes were cut in tv, or some scenes were made first, but in the book they were much later (for example, Eddard was executed after Tyrion was taken hostage by Kathleen Stark) and so on. Better read book c:
